The Role Responsibilities

Processes

  • Assist spoke in the definition of requirements for new/revisions in reports and in consultation with Spoke MTRR/BFM advise the necessary corrections to Hub
  • Inform MTRR/BFM of potential problems in the delivery of reports
  • Prepare and analyse KPIs for discussion with MTRR
  • Document/update the procedures for generating reports at Spoke
  • Review and recommend improvements in the reporting environment
  • Manage the information system to ensure that the requirements of Spoke are met in the most efficient and cost effective manner
  • Provide an analysis of unusual/unreasonable trends for review by MTRR
  • Preparation of Board Papers for review by MTRR

Risk Management

  • To report unit's OR issues and losses to UORM.
  • To assist UORM in developing and updating of procedures, controls and monitoring plans for Operational Risk Management Act as OR coordinator for the section.
  • To adhere to the agreed KCSA plans and approach.
  • To identify and report all exceptions on non compliance with standard controls
  • To identify and report all weaknesses inherent in the standard controls.
  • To maintain proper record keeping on all KCSA related activities.
  • To maintain independence in the conduct of KCSA, i.e. not selecting and reviewing sample of self-performed transactions.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Perform first cut detail analysis and review of daily, weekly and monthly regulatory reports, making the necessary corrections before submission to Tax and Regulatory Manager for signoff.
  • To deliver accurate and timely financial and statistical information to the Central Bank
  • To liaise with Central Bank on issues arising from financial, statistical and other reports
  • To ensure that statutory accounts are drawn up in accordance with local requirements and in a timely manner
  • To prepare/review statutory reporting required as per group guidelines and ensure accurate and timely delivery of report.

  • External Auditors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree preferable in Business or Accounting coupled with second level professional accounting qualification e.g. CPA, ACCA or CIMA plus at least three years experience in a middle management accounting position of a busy financial /commercial organisation
  • High level of computer literacy and understanding of business computing environments
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Banking practice and theory in operating systems and internal reporting requirements
  • Strong knowledge in Financial Management Accounting Principles
  • Strong analytical skill and an eye for detail
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of IFRS.
