Job Description

To facilitate continuous improvement in plant reliability through the planning and optimization of planned maintenance activities and the development of maintenance packages

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Plan maintenance

  • Plan scheduled maintenance
  • Plan shutdowns and feedback on progress
  • Review shutdowns
  • Participate in job observations
  • Identify the required follow on work and raise the relevant work orders
  • Create maintenance reports

Maintain maintenance system integrity

  • Ensure correct system usage by team through regular audits and coaching
  • Publish standard asset care reports

Facilitate problem solving

  • Identify problems or potential problems
  • Facilitate problem solving
  • Administer a gap list
  • Identify equipment eligible for design out maintenance

Maintain safe, healthy and risk free working environment

  • Comply with safety, health and environmental legislation and procedures
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards

Key Performance Areas and Measures:

Asset Management

  • Asset management indicators
  • Schedule completion rate
  • CMMS integrity audits

Problem Solving

  • Completed FFA’s

Decision Making Powers and Authorities:

This person is authorised to:

  • Plan the maintenance day according to standard procedures.
  • Access the maintenance system to review works orders or create new works orders.
  • Initiate changes to maintenance schedules in collaboration with the Packaging Engineer and Maintenance Controllers.
  • Source additional resources for a maintenance day if the need arises or where specialist skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Min – FTC (Mechanical) plus SABM Packaging Diploma Ideal – Engineer (Mechanical)
  • Min – 3-6 months on the job training Ideal – 6-9 months on the job training
  • 1-2 years as a Mechanical Technician or 3-4 years as Mechanical Artisan on high speed packing lines
