Overview of activities & responsibilities
The quality and accuracy of our public transport datasets are key to our success as a business. Each time a public transport network changes to serve the needs of the people, we need to update our dataset to incorporate those changes - what we refer to as “data maintenance”.
We’re hiring a Transport Data & Partnerships Manager to maintain and grow the quality and value of our transport dataset in Dar es Salaam. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building the partnerships and managing activities that enable the day-to-day maintenance of the data. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone with strong connections within the transport industry and a passion for making their home city easier to navigate by the millions of public transport users who live and work there.
You'll be responsible for:
- Defining a local strategy and plan for data maintenance in your city with support from the Growth and Data Operations team,
- Building relationships and partnerships with key industry stakeholders, including public transport authorities and operators.
- Executing a data maintenance plan to meet standards set out in Service Level Agreements for your city
Required skills and knowledge:
You are passionate about transport and mobility in your city, and excited by our mission to make public transport information more accessible. You have a rich understanding of the workings and operations of the local public transport industry, and are a respected member of the public transport community, with a strong network of contacts and associates who can be called for advice and assistance.
You are a skilful communicator and relationship builder, and will use these skills to influence key local (transit and transit-related) stakeholders in support of our mission. You are a creative thinker and problem-solver, always looking for ways to improve our performance in the city, and for ways to enrich our data.
You are detail-oriented, tech savvy, and enjoy working with large amounts of data. You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability - you own the dataset for your city. Curiosity and strong agility are key - you ask the right questions to get the context and understanding you need to move forward. You value autonomy and are able to make decisions.
Bonus attributes:
Ideally, you have experience working with geospatial data and/or transport data formats such as GTFS.
Experience conducting market research or conducting community-led and crowdsourcing programmes would be a bonus.
