JOB VACANCY
The Global HOPE-MUHAS Pediatric Haematology and Oncology Program (Global HOPE-MUHAS
PHO) is a program that aims at building capacity in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology in
Tanzania through training, provision of evidence based medical care and research. As part of
implementation of its activities the Global HOPE-MUHAS PHO is seeking to hire staff to work with
the program. The program is therefore looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to apply for
the following vacant position.

Job Title: Medical Officer - 1 post
Reporting to: Program Director Global HOPE-MUHAS PHO Program
Work Station: Dar es salaam, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and it’s
affiliated hospitals

  • principles of education and communication,
  • MS Word, Excel, and common web browsers.
Duties and Responsibilities

1. Take history, perform physical examination, and initiate diagnostic work-up of children in  allocated Paediatric Haematology and Oncology care areas.

2. Provide emergency care and resuscitation of children in allocated Paediatric Haematology and Oncology care areas.

3. Assess and treat complications of cancer and/or blood diseases and their treatment in  allocated Paediatric Haematology and Oncology care areas.

4. Perform bedside invasive procedures including bone marrow aspirate and biopsy, lumbar puncture, intrathecal chemotherapy administration, and other procedures and duties as  may be instructed by the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology attending/faculty.

5. Present succinct summaries of patients at ward rounds, in clinics, tumor boards, and at other clinical activities. Maintain a medically, physically, emotionally, and aesthetically  safe and conducive clinical working environment.

6. Liaise with research assistants, coordinators, and nurses in conducting research related
to Paediatric Haematology and Oncology according to SOPs.

7. Ensure ethical conduct of research in allocated Paediatric Haematology and Oncology
areas, and report any suspicion of unethical.

8. Take part in all stages of QI and research activities of the program.

Experience

At least two years post internship. Having worked with children (Paediatrics) is an added
advantage. .
