About the job
DMA Limited seeks 1 Project Agronomist to assist smallholder farmer communities in Dodoma, District and Village level to improve their livelihoods through engaging in agriculture as a business. Increase of number of smallholder farmers moving from subsistence farming to Agribusiness. The shifting trigger demands of Agri-inputs and hence Agri-inputs supply, Financial Services, Climate Smart Agricultural Information Services and Sustainable Market and Buyers access. Digital Mobile Africa (DMA) has a mission to ensure smallholder farmers become more market and business-oriented by establishing a mix of digital and boots-on-the-ground ecosystem interventions through which farmers can increase productivity and incomes served via Digital Agents (VIDA) and Mobile Village Agent Digital Extension Services.
Main responsibilities:
The Project Agronomist is the key frontline staff member for DMA in the field. S/he will support Smallholder Farmer communities by providing them with agricultural knowledge support and introducing DMA systems and ensuring farmers’ groups access digital Agribusiness services at the last mile. This person shall also play a linkage role between DMA and local communities, promoting community development and mobilization of DMA field teams, partners and providing detailed training on best practice agronomy. S/he will also promote dissemination of market information. The Project Agronomist is responsible for overall supervision of farmer Data collection, Agri-inputs demands aggregation, post-harvest services, warehouse operations, ground buyer/market support and monitoring these activities through DMA’s VIDA Local platforms. S/he regularly, visits VIDA Agrodealer shops, Warehouses, Demo farms and provide Agri-inputs and produce handling training workshops at village, groups and AMCOS levels.
