Attorney generals have filed a suit challenging vaccine
requirements for firms with 100+ staff.
The lawsuit in St. Louis argues the authority lies with states, and not
the federal govt.
“This mandate is unconstitutional, unlawful, and unwise,” said the court
filing by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, one of several
Republicans vying for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat next year.
Failure to comply after January 4th could see fines of around $14,000
per violation.
Earlier today it was reported that Ford Motor Company will
require its 32,000 US workforce to be vaccinated against Covid-19 by
Dec. 8 or face 30-days unpaid leave, according to the company’s spox,
Monique Brentley.
Brentley noted that 84% of the staff are already
fully jabbed and stressed the firm will consider religious and medical
exemptions. However, those who refuse to take the jab and do not obtain
an exemption could have their jobs terminated.
Fords move comes after the White House declared Monday that it would require any company with more than 100 employees to vaccinate their workers, expanding the measure, affecting some 100mn Americans.
