It builds, owns and operates telecom passive infrastructure, providing services to mobile network operators. Helios Towers currently operates in 6 markets in Africa and has recently signed agreements to enter 4 new markets in Africa and Oman in the Middle East.
Overview
Reporting to the Group Head of Compliance, you will be a professional that lives the Helios Towers values of integrity, partnership and excellence. The role will work closely with the regional OpCo management team, individual OpCo management teams and each OpCo compliance champion to promote a culture of compliance and to ensure that everybody understands their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding the company, its employees, its assets and reputation. The Regional Compliance Officer is passionate about both what he/she does and how he/she does it.
This role is very important to the company to ensure that it has in place a compliance programme that is communicated, understood, in use and effective. This helps the company ensure its day-to-day activities are conducted according to the rules and comply with applicable laws and regulations, which in turn ensures a sustainable future for the business and its employees.
Role can be based at either Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana or Malawi.
Role Responsibilities
As a Regional Compliance Officer, you will be able to:
- Support, manage and advise on compliance programme activities in the region.
- Work with the regional and individual OpCo management teams to implement locally, Group compliance-related policies, procedures and guidelines, such as but not limited to: Code of Conduct, Integrity (Bribery and Corruption, Gifts and Hospitality, Sponsorships and Donations, Engagement with Public Officials, Conflicts of Interest, Due Diligence among others), Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, data privacy etc.
- Have knowledge and understanding of risk and management thereof
- Coordinate and develop compliance communications within the region
- Assist with regional training activities; development of materials, support training activities, conduct and oversee relevant trainings
- Assist with and support ongoing monitoring activities together with Group Compliance and OpCo compliance champions
- Provide regular updates to regional management, individual OpCo management teams and the Group Head of Compliance on compliance programme and related activities
- Act as a point of escalation for OpCo compliance issues, queries and resolution on matters such as supplier due diligence, landlord engagement, policy breaches and investigations, among others
Requirements for the Role
To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:
· Educated to Degree level
· Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a senior compliance related role in a regulated industry or international company
· Telecoms/Infrastructure management experience - desirable but not essential
· Experience working in a large organisation/public listed organisation
· Fluent in English (French and other languages desirable)
