Wärtsilä Tanzania Limited (WTZ) has an Operations and Maintenance Agreement with Geita Gold Mining Limited for Wärtsilä 4xW20V32TS Power Plant. We are now looking for Plant Operator to work at Power Plant located at Geita Gold Mining, Geita - Tanzania.

About the position

Your role will include the following accountabilities:

Responsibility for operations and maintenance of the power plant while complying with all safety regulations.
Ability and responsibility to understand/execute the basic engine operations activities like taking parameter readings and corrective actions for deviations observed.
Responsibility for maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment in good working conditions.
Compliance with all safety regulations including isolation, lockout, and tag out.
Working closely with the Shift Supervisors and Maintenance Supervisors.

To be successful in this role, you should:

Be able to perform emergency procedures in order to protect personnel and equipment.
Have responsibility for reporting operational disturbances and/or taking corrective action when directed to do so.
Effectively utilize all tools to maximize their useful operating life.
Be able to identify the components of the engines such as injection pumps, cylinders, turning gears, engine stop levers, emergency/electric stop for the engine, etc.
Always maintain the plant in clean and safe conditions.
Ability to identify existing equipment in the MV and HV room as well as the equipment in the KV Station.
Be able to repair and identify electric panels corresponding to each existing piece of equipment in the plant, substitute components of the panels such as contacts, transformers, and fuses.
Ability to use tools/devices e.g. digital & analog multimeters, frequency meters, electric capacity meters, DC source, oscilloscopes, etc.
Supporting electrical maintenance and troubleshooting with an Electrical supervisor.

Requirements:

Education: B.Sc. Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering registered by Engineer registration board of Tanzania.B.Sc. Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering registered by Engineer registration board of Tanzania.

Experience: At least two years and above from operating and/or maintaining of a Power Plant will be added advantage to succeed in this role.

Job location: Geita , Tanzania – Candidate must be citizen of Tanzania.(local)
