Search for Common Ground (Search) is a world-wide Non-Profit Organization with the primary objective to change the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches towards collaborative Solutions.
Search has been working in Tanzania since 2011. Our work has focused on overcoming ethnic, political, social and cultural divides, furthering constructive interaction and healthy relationships between civil society and key government actors, and transforming violent Conflict.
REQUEST FOR SERVICES
Search for Common Ground (Search) in Tanzania currently implements two projects, with the following overall objectives: To increase civil society organizations’ (CSOs') contribution toward a culture of peace, conflict prevention and inclusive democracy in North Mara, Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba), Mtwara and Pwani. To strengthen linkages between youth, community leaders, and security actors to work towards a collaborative response to prevent recruitment into VE groups in at-risk communities in Mtwara and Tandahimba. Both projects include the production of radio shows aiming to promote narratives of peace, creating platforms to share information and trigger dialogue among and between civil society, media and government stakeholders on critical issues, ensuring different stakeholders’ understanding of violent extremism dynamics, highlight stories of collaboration across divides, challenging prevailing stereotypes and transforming mutual negative perceptions, and enabling various stakeholders to work together in identifying and implementing constructive solutions that directly addresses sensitive issues including violent extremism.
