Sengerema Health Training Institute is the Health institute owned by Bishop Of Catholic Diocese of Geita, Mwanza Tanzania since 1971.
The institute is proud of its history of serving the community and the nation in terms of education, service and research. Through creactivity, innovation, passion and clear vision, the Sengerema Health Training Institute strives to build on these past successes and develop even greater strength in the future.
The Sengerema Health Training Institute (SHTI) was formed to training programmes in the fields related to health and allied sciences. Currently the institute is offering four programmes namely Clinical Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Social Work, Nursing and Midwives training institute.
The SHTI is the new name after the Catholic Diocese of Geita as owner decided to merge its health training institutions formerly known as Sengerema Clinical Officers Training Institute and Sengerema Nursing School to one institution. Under the SHTI’s the former institutions are turn to be called departments.
The Sengerema Health Training Institute was registered by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) to offer health training programmes from Basic Technician Level (NTA level 4) to Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6).
The college was registered under the new registration system by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE-established by the Act No. 9 of 1997) having satisfied the requirements for Full Registration as a Technical Education and Training Institution.
The Institute is located in Sengerema District Mwanza Regional several kms from Mwanza Town.
