BACKGROUND:
IUCN/Tanzania is implementing the SUSTAIN
Productive Landscapes for Inclusive Growth (SUSTAIN Pro) that is
designed to tackle food systems challenge by decoupling productivity
from land degradation and ecosystem loss, reconnecting the relationships
between governance structures for land and water by improving
integration and inclusion, aggregating success and innovation in food
system processes and practices and through building landscape
partnerships to drive change; and SUSTAIN Ecosystem stewardship to
balance sustainability & growth (SUSTAIN Eco) projects that aim to
addresses ecosystem degradation and enables the sustainable and
inclusive management of natural resources through improved governance
and rights, sustainable management practices and by catalyzing
investment in protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems
within the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridors of Tanzania (SACGOT).
The projects core objectives include:
• Enhance food security and
climate resilience of local communities by enabling demonstration,
replication and scale up of sustainable and productive agricultural
knowledge, practices and technologies.
• Apply nature-based solutions to restore land health and
• Incentivize inclusive value chains that rely upon sustainable production systems.
IUCN Tanzania is seeking a high caliber Programme Manager to facilitate the implementation of the SUSTAIN Pro and SUSTAIN Eco projects. S/he will be responsible for leading overall project activities to be implemented by IUCN team at the national and site level (Kilombero, Mbarali and Sumbawanga clusters) as well as oversee the execution of project activities by service providers involved. The Programme Manager will also coordinate the other IUCN projects within the SACGOT including GEF 7 Food Systems and Land Use Restoration (FOLUR) project to ensure integration and coherence of strategy, approaches and aggregation of stakeholders.
